Vote 100: Celebrating Women Composers (Parliament Week)

Vote 100: Celebrating Women Composers marks the centenary of women gaining the vote through democracy in action. A specially commissioned new work – ‘Lead On’ – by Lucy Pankhurst, a relative of leading suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst, will be performed and music by a diverse range of women composers. We are delighted that local MP Caroline Lucas will participate as pianist and as speaker.

Vocalist Polina Shepherd and special guests including Women of Note choir and pianists Evgenia Startseva and Yuri Paterson-Olenich.

Featured composers include Ethel Smyth, Clara Schumann, Alma Schindler-Mahler, Avril Coleridge-Taylor, Augusta Holmès, Morfydd Owen and living composers Cecilia McDowall, Litha Efthymiou, composer laureate Judith Weir. And many more!
